Department: Quality

Reports to: Director of Operations

Position Type: Permanent, Full-Time

Location: Aurora, Ontario

Summary: As Quality Manager, you will provide leadership for the Quality team in the resolution of problems and continuous improvement of product, processes and the quality management system. This position will address all areas of enterprise operations to achieve quality and operating objectives.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership and direction in the development of effective quality assurance policies, system and procedures to ensure the organization produces quality products
  • Create an environment where people can grow and develop, and lead by example in creating a positive, “can do” culture
  • Understand techniques for facilitating organizational change, removing roadblocks, performing constraint management, motivating and resolving conflicts
  • Facilitate and promote problem-solving tools (the seven quality control tools, the seven management and planning tools, root cause analysis, Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA), 8D, Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, FMEA, PPAP and other like models)
  • Drive process and product improvements to reduce internal defects and external warranty
  • Develop, define and recommend quality policy and sets objectives to meet business needs
  • Conduct management reviews of the quality system and make adjustments, as necessary, to align the system to the business strategy
  • Develop, recommend, and implement inspection and analysis techniques, quality and process control procedures and audit plans to ensure specifications and standards are met
  • Manage the incoming quality inspection, in-process quality control, internal audit program, gage and calibration process, and material tractability activities to assure effectiveness of the Quality System
  • Be able to tactically stop processing or shipping any products or service considered to be of questionable conformance with requirements
  • Monitor supplier qualify performance, drive continuous improvement. Work with Purchasing and Sourcing departments to improve cost, lead time and inventory reduction
  • Review all data obtained during all quality control and quality assurance activities to ensure consistency with company policies and procedures
  • Identify quality related training needs and direct training activities. Provide necessary training to all employee and promote quality awareness
  • Lead the supplier quality assurance and sample qualification process, implement effective supplier quality management processes to make sure the supplier (both 3rd party and intercompany) goods meet Sinclair quality standards
  • Train, coach, develop Quality staff with proper skills, and assisting other managers/supervisors in training their staff in Quality Policy and Procedures
  • Establish and maintain an effective quality reports/matrix and database, manage the quality KPI and drive the continues improvement on quality index and manage/reduce the cost of poor quality
  • Measure and monitor customer satisfaction and take action as appropriate. Manage and maintain customer scorecard to meet and exceed the customer expectation
  • Maintain a working knowledge of standards, regulations/laws, issues, industry quality codes and news with respect to product (service) quality
  • Occasionally business travel
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/Industrial Engineering, Quality Management or a similar technical discipline
  • Have 7+ years’ experience in a manufacturing environment. A minimum of two to three years of this experience must be in a management and supervision position in quality function
  • Experience in the telecommunication products industry is preferred
  • Be a hands-on self-starting team player and have the ability to read blueprints & Interpret GD&T on drawings
  • Be able to work within and meet aggressive deadlines
  • Experience with Engineering Change, MRB, RCA/8D, FMEA, PPAP
  • Working experience of ISO 9001 quality management systems, internal or external auditor experience is preferred
  • Strong computer skills (including MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Word, MS Visio, MS Outlook and ERP)
  • ASQ certification preferred
